Growing up living on coastal Awabakal land in Lake Macquarie, Shannon has always held a strong affinity with her local environment. While studying Natural History Illustration, Shannon became engrossed in uncovering the secrets and small details of natural specimens that often go unnoticed in day to day life.

A bit of a collector, Shannon forages for plants, leaves, shells and other curiosities while bushwalking and exploring the coastline. These specimens become the inspiration and subject matter for much of her work, decorating her studio space in orderly lines.

Shannon prefers to draw from life and can often be found completing fieldwork in local bushland, rock pools and botanic gardens. Her delicate illustrations capture the beauty and diversity of the Australian environment, highlighting curiosities of the natural world.

Shannon is passionate about the potential for art to influence positive change, drive environmental awareness, and contribute to improved well-being.

Shannon is enthusiastic about sharing her skills, and is an experienced arts educator and workshop facilitator, having taught over 800 individual art classes and workshops. She is skilled in encouraging experimentation and fostering creative ideas in children and adolescents. Shannon’s classes focus on developing technical skills while exploring imaginative drawing, mindfulness and unapologetic self-expression.

Shannon is currently living in Darwin on Larrakia land, exploring the landscapes and National Parks of the Top End, and sketching as many birds as she can.
